68.   Fixing of minimum wage

  1.  

    (1)   Notwithstanding sections 69 to 81 or any other law in force in Saint Lucia relating to wages or remuneration of workers and subject to subsection (2), the Minister may, by Order published in the Gazette fix a minimum wage for—

    1.  

      (a)     workers generally; or

    1.  

      (b)     any class of workers generally or for any class of employees in a particular industry or undertaking, and such minimum wage shall be not less than the minimum wage specified under paragraph (a).

    (2)   A Minimum Wage Order may contain such provisions as the Minister thinks fit and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing may—

    1.  

      (a)     specify hours of work and other terms and conditions of service or employment in relation to any minimum wage;

    1.  

      (b)     fix different minimum wages for employees in different categories of undertakings engaged in the same employment.
