TRAINING/WORKSHOPS

The Covid-19 pandemic forced a change in the modality for execution of training programmes across the public service, this was no different for staff of Chambers. Our staff participated in various capacity building activities throughout the period including:

  • Project Management six month programme-January to June 2020- University of the West Indies
  • Occupational Saftety and Health course from February 2021 to April 2021- University of the West Indies
  • Paralegal Programme-University of the West Indies and Impact Justice which commenced in September 2020 to December 2021.
  • "Coping with Anxiety and Depression" facilitated by the Department of the Public Service in February 2021.
  • Basic Mandarin course held on February 11, 2021.
  • Alfresco data management system training was conducted by the Department of the Public Service in March 2021.

SOCIAL EVENTS

Socializing during the Covid-19 pandemic was exceedingly difficult, staff had to maintain physical distance and ensure masks were constantly worn during work hours. However, noting the psychological stress that was associated with COVID-19, we organized a Jounen Creole Brunch with a difference in October of 2020. Staff at the main office and Registry participated in this activity with strict adherence to office protocols. This activity culminated with "Karaoke" and the general sentiments was one of relaxation and fun.

Unfortunately, the Annual Staff Retreat could not be facilitated due to the COVID-19 restrictions, however plans are underway to explore a virtual option for this event. The existing protocols meant that the customary Christmas camaraderie and festivities were also not allowed, therefore on December 21, 2020 the managment of Chambers treated all staff to a buffet lunch. Staff also participated in a gift exchange during this period.
