253.   Concealing, falsifying, etc. certain documents

    (1)   A person who, with intent to defraud or deceive, conceals, forges, alters or falsifies any bill of lading, invoice, manifest, receipt, or other document evidencing the quantity, character, or condition of any property, or the receipt or disposition of, or the title of any person to any property, is liable on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for 2 years.

    (2)   Nothing in this section relieves a person of any liability to greater or other punishment under any other provision of this Code or any other enactment, but a person shall not be punished twice for the same offence.
