249. Forgery of hall-mark or the like
A person who, with intent to defraud, forges or counterfeits any hall-mark or mark appointed, under authority of law, by any corporation or public officer to denote the weight, fineness, or age, or place of manufacture, of any gold or silver plate or bullion is liable on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for 2 years.
