1712. The depositor is bound to reimburse the depositary for the expenses incurred by the latter in the preservation and care of the thing, and to indemnify him or her for all losses that the deposit may have caused to him or her.
The depositary has a right to retain the thing deposited until such expenses and losses are paid to him or her.
