Section III The effect of suretyship between co-sureties

1851. When several persons become sureties for the same debtor and the same debt, the surety who discharges the debt has his or her remedy against the other sureties, each for an equal share.

But he or she can only resort to this remedy when his or her payment has been made in one of the cases specified in article 1849.
