(1) Where a fire officer ceases to be a member of the Fire Service he or she may on request be given by the Chief Fire Officer a certificate containing his or her rank, the period of service in the Fire Service and the reason or cause for his or her ceasing to be a member of the Fire Service.
(2) If the member of the Fire Service should so further request the Chief Fire Officer may append to the certificate if he or she thinks fit, any one of the following recommendations as to conduct, that is to say—
(a) Exemplary;
(b) Very Good;
(c) Good;
(d) Bad.
(3) Where a person ceases to be a member of the Fire Service his or her personal file shall be kept for such time as the Chief Fire Officer may think fit, the Chief Fire Officer thereafter shall destroy or supervise the destruction of the same.
