33.   Reward Fund

  1.  

    (1)   All fines and penalties imposed on any subordinate officer or on any other person under this Act shall be received by the Chief Fire Officer or by a senior officer appointed by the Chief Fire Officer for that purpose and shall be placed on deposit in the Treasury to a separate account to be called the “Fire Service Reward Fund” hereinafter referred to as the “Fund”.

    (2)   Payment shall not be made from the Fire Service Reward Fund except upon the authority of the Chief Fire Officer.

    (3)   The Chief Fire Officer may in his or her discretion sanction payment from the Fire Service Reward Fund for any of the following purposes—

    1.  

      (a)     making rewards to subordinate officers and persons who have rendered exceptional, dangerous or arduous service in the execution of duty;

    1.  

      (b)     expenditure for the benefit and advancement of authorised recreation and sport and other branches of fire service activity organised with the Fire Service;

    1.  

      (c)     expenditure for the benefit and advancement of education organised within the Fire Service.

  1.  

    (4)   The Chief Fire Officer shall cause an account to be kept of the receipts and disbursements of the Fund and the Fund shall be subject to audit in each year by the Director of Audit.

    (5)   A member of the Fire Service who is dismissed from the Fire Service shall forfeit all claims in the Fund.
