40.   Special meetings

  1.  

    (1)   The board may call a special meeting of members at any time.

    (2)   Subject to subsection (3), the board shall call a special meeting of the members on receipt of a written request, specifying the purpose of the meeting, from such number of members as may be specified in the by-laws.

    (3)   The board shall call the special meeting mentioned in subsection (2) within 20 days of their receipt of the request and the special meeting is required to dispose of the specific business outlined in the request.

    (4)   The Registrar may call a special meeting of the society—

    1.  

      (a)     for the purpose of reporting to the members the results of any audit, examination or other investigation of the society's affairs ordered or made by him or her; or

    1.  

      (b)     where the society fails to hold an annual general meeting in accordance with section 39(1) or 39(2), for the purpose of enabling members to secure any information regarding the affairs of the society that they are entitled to receive under this Act and to deal with any matters affecting the society.
