(1) If the Registrar is satisfied that a society which has submitted an application for registration should not be registered as a registered society, he or she may register such society for a period not exceeding 12 months.
(2) A society registered under subsection (1) shall be termed a “probationary society” and shall be subject to such conditions as the Registrar may impose.
(3) If the Registrar is satisfied that a probationary society has made sufficient progress in complying with the conditions imposed on the society, he or she may register the probationary society as a registered society.
(4) If the Registrar is not satisfied that a probationary society has made sufficient progress in complying with the conditions imposed on that society, he or she may extend the probationary period for a further period not exceeding 12 months, or cancel the registration.
(5) If at the end of the second year the Registrar is satisfied that a probationary society has made sufficient progress in complying with the conditions imposed on that society, he or she may register that society as a registered society; otherwise he or she shall cancel the registration.
