185. Improper negotiation of advance note
Where a seaman belonging to a Saint Lucian ship, being lawfully engaged has received under his or her agreement an advance note, and after negotiating his or her advance note, wilfully or through misconduct fails to join his or her ship or deserts therefrom before the note becomes payable, he or she commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $500 or to a term of imprisonment not exceeding 2 months or to both such fine and imprisonment.
