(1) This section applies to vessels which complete a voyage within 24 hours.
(2) The working hours of an engineer must not exceed 16 hours.
(3) The requirements for rest period specified in this section or paragraph IX/16 of the Code need not be maintained in cases of any emergency including giving assistance to other vessels, persons in distress at sea, or drill or any overriding operational conditions.
