157.   Costs for procuring conviction

When in any proceeding relating to a seaman's wages it is shown that the seaman has, in the course of the voyage, been convicted of an offence and punished by imprisonment or otherwise, the Court hearing the case may direct any part of the wages due to the seaman, not exceeding one month's wages, to be applied in reimbursing any costs properly incurred by the master in procuring the conviction and punishment.
