(1) Subject to regulations 5, 6 and 7, the maximum fare chargeable to a person for transportation on a taxi under section 55 of the principal Act shall be as set out in Schedule 1.
(2) The fare structure prescribed in these Regulations —
(a) shall apply to all vehicles licensed to provide taxi services. including tourism taxis authorized to operate by a permit issued under section 55 of the principal Act; and
(b) shall be chargeable 24 hours a day including public holidays.
(3) The driver or conductor of a vehicle licensed to provide taxi services shall have the right to demand the fare chargeable under these Regulations from a person intending to travel in a vehicle licensed to provide taxi services, where the person enters the vehicle.
(4) The driver or conductor of a vehicle licensed to provide taxi services shall not demand more than the fare chargeable under these Regulations.
(5) A driver or conductor of a vehicle licensed to provide taxi services who contravenes sub-regulation (4) commits an offence and notwithstanding section 17(10) of the Interpretation Act is liable, upon summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.
