(1) In a no-parking zone, parking is prohibited generally.
(2) In a paid-parking zone, parking is permitted —
(a) to a holder of a special parking permit issued under section 138, subject to the conditions contained in this Act, the Regulations and the special parking permit; (Amended by Act 10 of 2006)
(b) to any other person, upon payment of the prescribed fee and subject to the prescribed conditions.
(2A) A Parking Authority may purchase and use parking meters and other devices for the purposes of subsection (2)(b) in the prescribed manner. (Inserted by Act 14 of 2019)
(3) In a reserved-parking zone, parking is prohibited unless authorised by a reserved parking permit issued under section 137 and such authorised parking is subject to the conditions contained in this Act, the Regulations and the reserved parking permit. (Substituted by Act 10 of 2006)
(4) In a free parking zone, parking is permitted subject to the prescribed conditions.
(5) In this section, “parking meter” means a mechanical device registering and collecting payment for the length of time that a motor vehicle is in a paid-parking zone. (Inserted by Act 14 of 2019)
