1. Each Plate must be rectangular in shape and shall bear upon it such capital letters as may be determined by the Licensing Authority, and the position of the identification mark shall conform to the details contained in regulation 3.
2. (a) The background of the plate and the letters and numbers thereon shall be either black with letters and numbers in white or white with letters and numbers in black.
(b) The background of the plates on vehicles —
(i) owned by diplomatic personnel, or
(ii) used by the Office of the Prime Minister,
(iii) used by members of Parliament,
shall be royal blue with yellow letters and numbers inscribed on it.
(c) The background of the plate for government vehicles shall be yellow with black letters and numbers.
(d) The background of the plates for Public Service Motor Vehicles with route permit registration plates shall be green with white letters and numbers.
(e) The background of the plates for taxi shall be light blue with white letters and numbers.
(f) The background of the plate for rental vehicles shall be either black with white letters and numbers or white with black letters and numbers. (Inserted by S.I. 47/2013 and substituted by S.I. 10/2014)
(g) The background of the plate for farming vehicles shall be either black with white letters and numbers or white with black letters or numbers. (Inserted by S.I. 47/2013)
(h) The background of a personalised licence plate shall be either black with white letters and numbers or white with black letters and numbers. (Inserted by S.I. 34/2014)
3. All numbers and letters must be 3½ inches high; every part of every letter and figure must be 5/8 of an inch broad; and the total width of the space taken by every letter and number except in the case of the figure 1 must be 2½ inches.
4. The space between adjoining figures must be ½ inch, and there must be a margin between the nearest part of any letter or number and the top and bottom of the plate of a least ½ inch of any letter or number and the sides of the plate of at least one inch.
5. There must be a margin between the nearest part of the any letter or number and the sides of the plate of at least one inch.
