52.   Reception and treatment of person of unsound mind

  1.  

    (1)   Upon the arrival in this island of a person of unsound mind from any such other island, it is lawful for the Governor General upon the production to him or her of an order under the hand of the Governor General and the seal of the island from which such person has been transferred, to endorse such order, authorising the Superintendent of a mental hospital in this island to receive the person of unsound mind named in such order.

    (2)   The Superintendent shall thereupon admit such person into such hospital, and such person, when so admitted, shall be properly dealt with, cared for and treated and be subject to all such rules and regulations as may be in force with regard to mental hospitals under the authority of this Act, and such person shall be detained in such hospital until he or she is directed by the Governor General to be released.
