45.   Ill-treating person of unsound mind on trial and obstructing visitor

Any person who strikes or ill-treats any mental patient absent on trial, or who obstructs any medical officer of the hospital from which any such patient was liberated or the medical officer of any magistrate while visiting or attempting to visit any such patient, commits an offence punishable on summary conviction, and on conviction thereof before any magistrate may be fined in any sum not exceeding $96 or imprisoned with or without hard labour for any term not exceeding 3 months.
