The Superintendent of any mental hospital or any officer or servant thereof or any police officer or any constable or other peace officer may retake any patient who is escaping from such hospital and may within 30 days after any escape retake any patient who has escaped from such hospital and may return to the hospital any patient so retaken, where he or she shall revert to his or her former custody.
