A person shall not be appointed as a member of the Fire Service unless—
(a) he or she has attained the age of 18 years but has not reached the age of 25 years.
However, in any such case the Chief Fire Officer may with the approval of the Cabinet appoint a person who has already attained the age of 25 years;
(b) he or she passes a medical examination as to his or her bodily fitness to be held by a duly qualified medical practitioner appointed by the Cabinet;
(c) he or she produces to the Chief Fire Officer satisfactory proof of his or her good character;
(d) he or she has attained the standard of education fixed by the Chief Fire Officer with the approval of the Cabinet;
(e) he or she is of the required height and chest measurement, according to a standard to be fixed by the Chief Fire Officer with the approval of Cabinet.
