SETTLEMENT CLEARANCE, UPGRADING AND REDEVELOPMENT SCHEME
20. Power to secure settlement clearance
Where the Minister, as a result of such enquiries as he or she considers necessary, is satisfied that housing accommodation in an area is overcrowded, insanitary, severely congested or unfit for human habitation and that these conditions can be remedied—
-
(a) by ordering the demolition, reconstruction or repair of the accommodation;

(b) by the acquisition of the land and other property in the area and undertaking the demolition, reconstruction or repair of the housing accommodation;

(c) by the acquisition of land surrounding or surrounded by the area, the acquisition of which is reasonably necessary for the satisfactory reconstruction and development of the area,

the Minister shall cause the Corporation to prepare and submit for his or her consideration a plan defining the area.
