(1) The Director General may, subject to any directions given by the Minister under section 10, and on such terms and conditions as he or she deems necessary, exempt any person, aircraft, aerodrome, facility or service from the application of regulation, order, directive or standard made under this Act if in his or her opinion the exemption is in the public interest and is not likely to affect aviation safety.
