(1) A Board of Management appointed under section 57 shall include the following members—
(a) the principal who is an ex-officio member;
(b) one member who is a representative nominated by the parent-teacher association of the school. However, if no such association exists the Minister may appoint a parent after consultation with the principal;
(c) one member who is a representative nominated by the staff at an authorised staff meeting;
(d) not less than 4 members appointed by the Minister acting in his or her discretion from among persons representing—
(i) expert educational opinion,
(ii) religious denominations,
(iii) organisations concerned with business,
(iv) organisation concerned with community development, and
(v) such other areas of national interest as the Minister considers appropriate.
(2) The persons named in paragraphs (1)(b), (1)(c) and (1)(d) shall be appointed by the Minister by instrument in writing.
(3) Schedule 2 applies in respect of the procedure and functions of the Board of Management established under subsection (1).
