15.   Responsibility to students

  1.  

    (1)   The Chief Education Officer shall provide to every compulsory school-age person who resides in the State an educational programme consistent with the requirements of this Act and regulations made thereunder.

    (2)   For the purposes of providing the educational programme to the student, the Chief Education Officer shall—

    1.  

      (a)     enroll the student in an educational programme, offered by the Ministry of Education; or

    1.  

      (b)     direct the student to attend an educational programme offered by another educational institution where it is reasonable to do so.

    (3)   Except in the case of a student who is transferred under section 54(1)(d), where a student is directed to attend an educational programme under subsection (2)(b), the Government is responsible for such fees and costs, if any, consequent to the student's attendance at the educational programme.
