37.   Clinical departments and services

  1.  

    (1)   The Board, after consultation with the Clinical Committee or Management Committee, may establish and maintain clinical departments or services as it considers necessary for the proper operation of the medical complex.

  1.  

    (2)   Without limiting the generality of subsection (1), the Board may, after consultation with the Clinical Committee or Management Committee, as the case may be, establish and maintain the following departments or services —

    1.  

      (a)     internal medicine;

    1.  

      (b)     surgery;

    1.  

      (c)     obstetrics and gynaecology;

    1.  

      (d)     paediatrics;

    1.  

      (e)     accident and emergency;

    1.  

      (f)     oncology;

    1.  

      (g)     nephrology;

    1.  

      (h)     intensive care;

    1.  

      (i)     pharmacy;

    1.  

      (j)     anaesthesiology;

    1.  

      (k)     pathology and laboratory services;

    1.  

      (l)     physical therapy;

    1.  

      (m)     detoxification unit;

    1.  

      (n)     psychiatry; and

    1.  

      (o)     general rehabilitation.

    (3)   The Board, after consultation with the Clinical Committee or Management Committee and the Chief Executive Officer, may appoint a member of the medical staff to be the head of any department or service established under subsection (1).
