34.   Powers, functions, etc. of Justice

    (1)   Subject to the provisions of this and of any other statute, every justice of the peace shall have power to preserve the peace, to suppress riots and affrays and to disperse all disorderly and tumultuous assemblages, and for any of these purposes, to call in the aid and assistance of all His Majesty's liege subjects, who shall severally be bound to obey all such lawful commands and in case of need to call in, for any of these purposes, the aid and assistance of any military or naval force within Saint Lucia or within the waters of Saint Lucia.

    (2)   Subject as aforesaid, every justice of the peace shall have the same power as a magistrate to sign warrants for the apprehension and commitment for safe custody of persons charged with felony and other offences; to issue search warrants; and to administer oaths in cases allowed by law.
