2.   Interpretation

In this Act —

Authority” means the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority established under section 4;

Board” means the Board of Directors under section 7;

certificate” means a Certificate of Registration under section 27F; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

Chairperson” means the director appointed as Chairperson under section 7(2)(b);

Chief Corporate Officer” means the person appointed as Chief Corporate Officer under section 22(1)(a);

Chief Executive Officer” means the Chief Executive Officer to the Authority appointed under section 21(1);

Chief Financial Officer” means the person appointed as Chief Financial Officer under section 22(1)(b);

code of practice” means a code of practice issued under section 38;

consideration”, in relation to the supply of a tourism accommodation service —

  1.  

    (a)     means the total amount of money paid or payable at the end of the accommodation period and includes a deposit for that tourism accommodation service;

    (b)     includes duties, levies, value added tax, fees and charges added to the cost for a tourism accommodation service;

Deputy Chairperson” means the Deputy Chairperson of the Authority designated under section 7(6);

destination marketing” means the promotion of Saint Lucia as a vacation or holiday destination; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

Director” means a director of the Board;

Minister” means the Minister responsible for tourism unless otherwise stated;

Register” means the register under section 27L; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

registration number” means the identification code assigned to a registered tourism accommodation service provider under section 27D(2)(b)(i); (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

registered tourism accommodation service provider” means a person who is granted registration under section 27D and issued a certificate under section 27F; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

taxable person” has the meaning assigned to it under the Value Added Tax Act; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

tourism accommodation service” means the supply of a service for short-term sleeping accommodation in the tourism sector with or without related facilities for consideration; (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

Tourism Destination Marketing Plan” means a destination guide for implementing a destination marketing strategy under section 9(2)(f); (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)

Tourism Industry” means the people, activities and organizations involved in providing services for people on holiday;

welcome booth” means a stall or small structure used for welcoming and providing information to a person who travels to Saint Lucia. (Inserted by Act 12 of 2020)
