25.   Evidence required to prove leprosy

  1.  

    (1)   A supposed leper shall not be convicted of an offence against this Act or shall be committed to a leper asylum or removed from Saint Lucia under the provisions of this Act, and a person shall not be convicted of any offence with respect to the landing of any supposed leper, and no costs shall be recovered with respect to the removal of any supposed leper, except on the evidence of 2 medical practitioners that such supposed leper is a leper.

    (2)   The certificate in writing of a medical practitioner shall be admissible as evidence under this section unless the Court or magistrate otherwise directs.
