17.   Parochial meetings

  1.  

    (1)   Subject to the provisions of the next following subsection a parochial meeting shall be held once in every year in each parish or on such other occasions as may be warranted to elect members to fill vacancies within the provisions of this Act:

       Provided that the Vestry of any parish may submit to a parochial meeting any specific question in any matter of importance respecting which such Vestry may think fit to take the opinion of the parishoners.

    (2)   No parochial meeting shall be held in any parish until public notice of such meeting, the day and the hour of holding the same, and the special purpose thereof, has been given by the Curé or other Incumbent on 3 consecutive Sundays on the church notice-board for 15 days before the date of the meeting.
