(1) Subject to the provisions of subsection (3), a person who gives evidence before the House or a committee is not liable to any civil or criminal proceedings by reason of anything which he or she may have said in such evidence.
(2) Except in proceedings referred to in subsection (3), no statement made by any person in evidence given before the House or a committee is admissible in evidence against that person in any civil or criminal proceedings.
(3) The preceding provisions of this section shall not be construed to prevent the institution or maintenance of any proceedings against any person for an offence under section 21 or 22.
