7.   Conditions for registration

  1.  

    (1)   Subject to section 8, a person including a citizen of a Member State of the Community is entitled to be registered as an architect where on application made to the Board the applicant satisfies the board that —

    1.  

      (a)     he or she is qualified to be so registered; and

    1.  

      (b)     he or she is a fit and proper person to practice architecture in Saint Lucia.

    (2)   For the purposes of subsection (1), a person is qualified to be registered as an architect where —

    1.  

      (a)     he or she has been awarded a degree or the equivalent in architecture granted by a university or school of architecture that, in the opinion of the Board, is evidence of satisfactory training in architecture; or

    1.  

      (b)     he or she is registered as an architect by a board, council or institute in a country other than Saint Lucia and where in the opinion of the Board, the overseas body upholds satisfactory standards of architecture; and

    1.  

      (c)     he or she has had a minimum of two years practical experience in the practice of architecture to the satisfaction of the Board, one year of which —

      1.  

        (i)     must have been acquired in Saint Lucia under the supervision of an architect registered under this Act, or

      1.  

        (ii)     in the case of a person who met the requirements under paragraph (a) or (b) before the commencement of this Act, must have been acquired in Saint Lucia.

    (3)   An application for registration shall be made to the Secretary of the Board in Form A as set out in Schedule 2.

  1.  

    (4)   An applicant for registration shall furnish to the Secretary of the Board —

    1.  

      (a)     evidence of his or her qualifications and experience;

    1.  

      (b)     proof of his or her identity; and

    1.  

      (c)     such further and other information as the Board requires in respect of the matters referred to in subsections (1) and (2).
