2. Interpretation

(1) In this Act—
“appropriate Minister” means the Minister responsible for Finance;
“award” means an amount payable to a person out of the Consolidated Fund under this Act;
“legislative term” means the period commencing in the year 1954 from the date of a general election and expiring at the date of the next ensuing dissolution of Parliament;
“legislator” means a person who has served or who is serving as a member of the House of Assembly or of the Senate;
“Minister” when not preceded by the word “appropriate” means a legislator appointed as Minister under section 60 of the Constitution of Saint Lucia and, in relation to any period between 1 March 1956 and 22 February 1979 means a legislator duly appointed as a Minister during that period;
“retiring allowance” means an allowance payable under section 5;
“salary” means the emoluments provided for in the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure of Saint Lucia exclusive of any allowances.
