For the purposes of section 5—
(a) a person does not cease to be a legislator by reason only of the dissolution of Parliament;
(b) a legislator who, immediately before the dissolution of Parliament was a member of the House of Assembly or the Senate shall, if that legislator does not become a member of the House of Assembly or the Senate after the general elections next following the dissolution, cease to be a member of the House of Assembly or the Senate from the date of the dissolution.
