(1) The Board shall consist of 3 ex officio members, and 6 other members 2 of whom shall be butchers, 2 of whom shall be producers of livestock, and 2 other persons representing consumers to be appointed by the Governor General on the recommendation of the Minister.
(2) The ex officio members shall be the persons holding or acting in the following public offices—
(a) the Director of Agricultural Services who shall be the chairperson of the Board;
(b) the veterinary officer who shall be deputy chairperson;
(c) the Director of Finance and Planning.
(3) At any meeting of the Board, provided a quorum is present the Board may act despite any vacancy in the number of its members.
(4) The Governor General may authorise payment out of the funds of the Board of any sum way of remuneration or other allowance to the chairperson and other members of the Board. However, no remuneration or other allowance shall be paid under this subsection to a member of the Board who is also the secretary thereof.
