15.   Powers of the Board

The Board may—

  1.  

    (a)     establish and operate depots for the purchase, grading and delivery of livestock and for the grading and sale of meat and meat products;

  1.  

    (b)     enter into contracts for the purchase and transport of livestock upon such terms and conditions as the Board may deem fit;

  1.  

    (c)     subject to any powers vested in municipal authorities establish and operate abattoirs and other plant for the slaughtering of livestock and for the preparation, grading and processing of meat and meat products;

  1.  

    (d)     establish feed mills and depots wherein drugs and livestock feed may be purchased, processed and sold on such terms and conditions as the Authority may consider fit;

  1.  

    (e)     do all things needful for the development, preservation and maintenance of a livestock industry in the island;

  1.  

    (f)     regulate the grading of livestock and prescribe the grades which shall be employed in the purchase of livestock and the prices to be paid for each grade;

  1.  

    (g)     regulate the grading of meat and meat products and prescribe the grades which shall be employed in the sale of meat and meat products and the prices to be paid for each grade at the depots and abattoirs operated by the Board;

  1.  

    (h)     purchase, transport and handle livestock in or outside of the Island in such quantities, at such prices and at such times as the Board may determine;

  1.  

    (i)     slaughter, handle and sell meat and meat products in or outside of the Island in such quantities, at such prices and at such times as the Board may determine.
