7.   Offences

  1.  

    (1)   Any person who makes any false statement or gives any false information for the purpose of obtaining any payment or Scheduled item under this Act, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine of $250 or to imprisonment for a term of 6 months.

    (2)   Any registered owner who is convicted of an offence under subsection (1) of this section or any other offence relating to improperly obtaining or attempting to obtain any payment or scheduled item under this Act shall, in addition to any penalty otherwise prescribed —

    1.  

      (a)     be liable, on first conviction, to be disqualified for obtaining any scheduled item or payment under this Act for such period not exceeding 2 years as the Court may order;

      (b)     on any subsequent conviction, be disqualified obsolutely for obtaining any payment or scheduled item under this Act.
