9.   Offence—giving false information to Commission

A person who, in connection with any application by any person for employment or promotion in the public service or with any matter upon which it is the duty of the Commission to advise the Governor General or to make any decision wilfully gives to the Commission or to any member or to any person or authority appointed to assist the Commission in the exercise of its functions any information which he or she knows to be false or does not believe to be true, or which he or she knows is false by reason of the falsity of, or by reason of the omission of, any material particular, commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to a fine not exceeding $1,000 or to both such imprisonment and fine.
