PRIVATE SECURITY LICENCE

30.   Requirement for a licence

  1.  

    (1)   A person shall not carry on a private security business unless that person is the holder of a valid licence issued pursuant to this Act.

    (2)   A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and upon summary conviction is liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 4 years or to both.

    (3)   A person shall not advertise that he or she carries on or intends to carry on a private security business unless that person is the holder of a valid licence issued pursuant to this Act.

    (4)   A person who contravenes subsection (3) commits an offence and upon summary conviction is liable to a fine not exceeding $50.000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 3 years or to both.
