3.   Importation of volatile petroleum forbidden

It is not lawful to land in, or to import into Saint Lucia or to attempt to land in or import into Saint Lucia any volatile petroleum, and every person who offends against the provision of this section is liable to a penalty not exceeding $240 and in default of payment to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 6 months. Any petroleum so landed or imported or attempted to be landed or imported shall be forfeited and shall be disposed of by the Director of Finance and Planning either by sale for exportation or by destruction of the same, and the proceeds of sale for exportation made by the Director of Finance and Planning under this section shall be paid into the Treasury to the credit of the General Revenue. However, volatile petroleum may be imported, landed, conveyed, kept, sold or used under and in accordance with regulations made by the Governor General.
