24.   Restriction on quantity of petroleum to be kept otherwise than in the Petroleum Warehouse

  1.  

    (1)   Petroleum shall not be kept for sale or otherwise in any larger quantity than 100 gallons, in any one store, shop, or other building, except in such building (to be called the petroleum warehouse) as may be specially appointed for that purpose by the Governor General, and under such conditions as to the mode of storage, as to the nature of goods with which petroleum may be stored, as to testing such petroleum, and as to the safe keeping of petroleum, as may seem expedient to the Governor General.

    (2)   Petroleum shall not be kept for private consumption in any dwelling-house or premises in any larger quantity than 10 gallons.

    (3)   Any petroleum kept in contravention of this section shall be forfeited, and in addition thereto the occupier of the place in which the petroleum is kept shall, on being convicted thereof, be liable to a penalty not exceeding $96 for each day during which petroleum is therein kept in contravention of this section, and in addition, if he or she is licensed to sell petroleum, to the forfeiture of his or her licence.
