13.   Information as to whereabouts of goods

  1.  

    (1)   A hirer shall, on receipt of a request in writing from an owner, inform the owner where the goods are at the time when the information is given or, if it is sent by post, at the time of posting.

    (2)   A hirer shall not—

    1.  

      (a)     fail without reasonable cause to give the information required to be given pursuant to subsection (1) within 14 days of the receipt of the request; or

    1.  

      (b)     give any information for the purposes of subsection (1) which he or she knows or has cause to believe is false.

    (3)   A hirer who contravenes subsection (2) commits an offence and is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding $5000 to imprisonment for a term not exceeding one year or to both.
