Revised Laws of Saint Lucia (2021)

14.   Penalty for burying body elsewhere than in this cemetery

A person who shall, except as hereinafter provided, bury or assist in burying the body of any person dying within the limits of the City of Castries or within 2 miles of it elsewhere than in the Cemetery established by virtue of this Act, on conviction, is liable to a penalty not exceeding $24, and in default of payment to imprisonment, with or without hard labour, for any period not exceeding 2 months.

However, the Governor General may at any time sanction the re-opening of any vault, tomb or burial place in any existing cemetery on an application in writing for that purpose by any member of the family of or any person interested in the deceased.

In addition, any existing cemetery may continue to be used as a place of burial until closed by order of the Governor General under section 18 of the Cemeteries Act.
