4.   Date of passing of statutes

    (1)   The date of the passing of every statute is the date on which the bill for that statute receives the assent of the Governor General.

    (2)   The clerk of the House of Assembly shall inscribe on every statute, immediately after its long title, the day, month and year when the statute comes into force or operation, or where the statute provides that it is to come into force or operation by proclamation, or that it is not to come into force or operation until a day or date to be so fixed, the words “On Proclamation”; and such inscription shall be taken to be part of the statute.
