7.   Powers of the Assembly

  1.  

    The Assembly shall have the following powers

    1.  

      (a)     to enter into or perform any contract for the furtherance of its objects with any person, firm, association, corporation, private or public body;

    1.  

      (b)     to hold and be named as beneficiary under any trust established by law or otherwise, or under any will or other testamentary instrument, any gift, devise or bequest in which a trust is established;

    1.  

      (c)     to receive gifts, devises or bequests of money or other real or personal property;

    1.  

      (d)     to acquire, hold, purchase, lease, possess and enjoy

      1.  

        (i)     any land and hereditaments; and

      1.  

        (ii)     any personal property absolutely or for leasehold or for any other estate or interest therein;

    1.  

      (e)     to give, grant, let, charge, improve, manage, develop, exchange, lease, mortgage, sell, convey, assign, dispose of, turn to account or otherwise deal with all or any of the property both present and future, held or vested or any part thereof;

    1.  

      (f)     to borrow, raise or secure the payment of money in such manner as may be thought fit and in particular by the issue of debentures and script charged upon all or any of the property both present and future, held by or vested in the Assembly and to redeem and pay off any such securities;

    1.  

      (g)     to publish books, magazines and newspapers in keeping with the principles of the Baha'i Faith;

    1.  

      (h)     to supervise the functioning of the local and other elements of the Baha'is;

    1.  

      (i)     to do all such things which in the opinion of the Assembly are necessary, proper and advantageous for the promotion of the complete and successful administration of the Assembly.
