29.   Prohibition on damage in general

  1.  

    (1)   A person shall not, without lawful authority—

    1.  

      (a)     do anything likely to cause damage to a beach or protected area; or

    1.  

      (b)     litter in a beach or protected area.

  1.  

    (2)   A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and upon summary conviction is liable to a fine of $500 or to imprisonment for 3 months or both and, in addition, a court before which a person is convicted under subsection (1) may order that person to pay compensation in satisfaction of the damage.
