(1) A person shall not import into or export from Saint Lucia any firearm or ammunition except unless he or she is the holder of a firearm import licence or a firearm export licence granted by the appropriate authority.
(2) A person who contravenes subsection (1) commits an offence and is liable;
(a) in the case of a prohibited weapon—
(i) on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 5 years,
(ii) on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for a term of not less than 20 years;
(b) in the case of a restricted weapon or restricted ammunition—
(i) on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 5 years, or
(ii) on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for a term of not less than 15 years;
(c) in any other case—
(i) on summary conviction to a fine of not less than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not less than 3 years,
(ii) on conviction on indictment to imprisonment for a term of not less than 10 years.
