21.   Evidence of witnesses to be on oath or affirmation

  1.  

    (1)   Subject to section 15 (3) and 22 and 23, a person may not give evidence, or act as an interpreter, in any proceedings unless the person has sworn an oath or made an affirmation in accordance with the Oaths and Affirmations Act.

    (2)   Any rule of law or practice which allows a defendant in criminal proceedings to give unsworn evidence is hereby abolished.
