(1) This section applies if —
(a) a person's birth was registered in Saint Lucia; or
(b) a person's adoption was registered under the Adoption Act.
(2) The Registrar may issue an updated record of a person's birth or adoption if—
(a) the Registrar decides that, because of the number of notes on the entry, it would be desirable to issue an updated record of births or adoptions; or
(b) the Registrar receives an application, in the approved form, to issue an updated record of the person's birth or adoption after a change of the person's name has been noted under this Act.
(3) An application to issue an updated record of a person's birth or adoption may only be made by—
(a) the person in the case of an adult; or
(b) a parent or guardian on the person's behalf in the case of a minor.
(4) The Registrar may issue an updated record of a person's birth or adoption by—
(a) duplicating the information other than information that has been superseded, in the entry for the person's birth or adoption in a new entry in the Register of Births, without indicating what information has been superseded;
(b) noting on the closed entry—
(i) that the record of birth or adoption has been updated, and
(ii) a reference to the new entry; and
(c) noting on the new entry—
(i) that the new entry was made under this section, and
(ii) a reference to the closed entry.
(5) The Registrar may issue a letter indicating the changes that have been made to the record from inception.
(6) For the purpose of this section “closed entry” means the entry for a person's birth or adoption prior to the issuance of an updated record of a person's birth or adoption.
