12. Liabilities of person's property for his or her relief
When any person to whom relief is granted under this Act, either at the time of such relief being granted or afterwards, own or possesses any property, the amount expended under this Act in the relief of such person, and the expenses of the burial of such person, if dead, shall be deemed to be a debt due from such person and his or her personal representatives, executors and assign to the Crown and shall be recoverable by the Crown according to law.
However, nothing herein contained shall relieve any person from any criminal liability which he or she would incur, if this section were not law.
