4.   Authority to appoint and transfer Medical Officers and to fix their emoluments

  1.  

    (1)   It is lawful for the Governor General to appoint a Chief Medical Officer, a resident medical officer and a surgeon for the Victoria Hospital, and other medical officers for Saint Lucia, and to the districts into which it is divided, and to transfer any medical officer from one district to another, or from the post of resident medical officer to a district or vice versa.

    (2)   The Chief Medical Officer and medical officers hold office during the Governor General's pleasure and receive such emoluments as may be assigned to them by the Governor General and House of Assembly.

    (3)   The consent of any medical officer to the alteration of the limits of his or her district or to his or her transfer from one district to another is not necessary but he or she shall not suffer any diminution of official salary by reason of the alteration or transfer.
